« on: November 03, 2008, 02:00:47 pm »
What temperature settings do you guys prefer for different jobs such as heat treating and bending?  And do you use different temps. for different woods?  Thanks.
P.S.  I don't have TBB4 yet.

I'm like Dave and use it on the highest setting. I believe mine is 1200w.    Pat

Actually if I have a real bad spot I will start out on lower temp sorta like preheating the oven then ramp the heat to the highest setting.
I feel this gives the heat a chance to penetrate the wood without scorching.

Usually high, but I sometimes do as Dana said if the wood is thick. You can easily regulate the temp anyway by how far from the wood you hold the gun.

High..... If I want to heat slower I move it faster up and down the limb faster.  Justin

Put a little veg. oil on the surface to be heated. It will protect the wood and more evenly distribute the heat.
