Three Knives I Finished This Weekend
« on: October 19, 2008, 07:46:39 pm »
Well it's been too warm to Hunt....in the 80's every day....and I havent found a good place to go yet either....so I stayed Home this Weekend.....finished all of the Yardwork....cleaned the Pond...... and washed the Mustang....so I decided that I was going to make a few Knives......

The first one is a Cowboy Clone.....I like the Blade that Paul made for me so much ....I had to have another one!! It's made from Texas Copperas Cove Chert....The Blade is 4" Long and 2" Wide....I Hafted it with Pine Pith and Gut to an Old Antler Base that I had left from a Rack that came out of an old Mount that my Great Grandfather killed in the 30's...kept the Rack and Eyes from it ...when the Hide split and the Horsehair was falling out.....when I was a Lad!!

The second one is made from Texas Georgetown Flint...... The Blade is 5" Long....and it's got some chrystals and beautiful designs in it too.... I hafted it with Pine Pitch and Gut to a Handle I made from Cholla with a Birdseye Hilt...The whole Knife is 10" Long

The third Knife is Special..... it is another Blade I got form my good Friend....a Cherokee Elder from Oklahoma..... It started Life as a piece of Blue/ Grey Texas Commanche Chert ....that was turned into this beautiful Kirk Corner Notch Blade.... it has nice Flake Scars running all the way accross the Blade...I hafted this to an Antler Tine that I had my Brother Scrimshaw a Bears Head into for Me....then I added a Mesquite Hilt. The Blade is 4 1/2" Long and 1 1/4" wide and overall length is right at 8" Long.....

All in All....it was one Nice Day!!!
