well, it didn;nt post like i wanted it, but it works~! now, down the vital statistics! it is a hickory board bow, with a silk backing strip. i tried to get a pic of the silk but i couldn' get the light right to see the pattern in the silk. its a rose pattern in a high quality silk that i got on clearance fo 4 dollars per yard! normal price was  close to 30$ per yd!! this a bow took an interesting path to where it is. you see, i had to rebuild it in order to make it a heavier draw. normally this would be done by piking, but my daughter wanted something in a minimum of 40 lbs., and this bow was destined to be down in the twenties. additionally, the limbs were kind of whippy so i tried some unorthodox... i added wood to the belly, lamination style! to be honest, i didn't even know if it was gong to work, but it did! it now stands as a 43# stiff handled longbow that has been shot clse to 300 times without a sound of complainy. furthermore, it is the most naturally accurate bow i've built to date (i have about 10 that have made it to the point of a test shot or more) my daughter is thrilled!  she has named the bow 'the newlander' in honor of her grandma newlin! awesome

Very nice bow.  Boommarked for August Self Bows of the Month.
Any chance of a picture with your daughter cranking it back?  PA is considering an article about Kids' Bows.

that is positive. my daughter was wondering why i didn't get a picture of her drawing it anyway! (she was behind the camera when the posted pics were taken) i will try to get one or more pics of her posted quickly. further, i have another bow i need to post if you're interested in kid's bows. this is for my younger daughter (she's 9) and it also draws at 43 lbs. i will try to get those posted in the next couple of days.

both of my daughters are suprisingly strong! my 17 yr old can draw my 63# longbow for short times, and my 9 yr old can go to 50#(of course, at her short draw, she's pulling less than that.)  all my draw wts. are at 28" standard unless otherwise noted. my 17 yr old daughter is 5'10", so she pulls pretty close to that 28"
