my boy's bow pic's (Finished)
« on: June 30, 2008, 11:05:39 pm »
I tried to post this a little while ago but somthing went wrong so i hope im not double posting??
Well any way.. I decided to just put 1" reflex in it instead of reflex deflex. I didnt want to over stress the 1/4 sawn hickory because I have never built with it like this before..It is 1 1/4" wide It should be right at 60" ntn  hoping to get 35# @ 22"here are a couple of pic's. I will post pic's as I go along.

Ok here we are on the tillering tree working on the long string.. It is surprisingly very high in draw weight at this point.. I'm glad of this as it will give me a lot of room in tillering it out  ;D. My other boy is also working on his first bow a black locust stave. so the tillering tree is a commodity. I'm teaching him final tiller. which is more important than finishing the other at this time. well anyway here are a couple of pic's..Let me know what you think..

Thank's guy's  Recurve shooter you can usually check with your local lumber yards and they can tell you who's got a few hickory board's.. Just pic thru to get the growth ring orientation you would like!
I like to pic them so i can cut backing strip's out of them..
 thank's

It is very relaxing to see yuor kid take a intrest in the thing's you like your self. ;D.. Well I broke the rules on this little bow.. I have it drawing 70#@26" right now  :o  I know never beyond final wieght and leangth but just had to try.. might hve to build the boy another one  >:D.. here are the pic's of today's progress..
My boy signed up here so he can post his own bow's. so not only do I have to share the tillering tree I got to share the putter.. ;).
