Latest Johnstone work

This is the Johnstone tomahawk that I made as a going away gift for a Command Chief Master Sergeant that worked for me.  He is the quintessential Dumpster Diver and really makes some unique stuff out of recycled materials (Adirondack chairs made from water skis for example).  We thought this would be a fitting symbol of his "Chief" position and symbolic as a recycled artifact.  It's hafted to a cedar limb that is debris from last winter's ice storm with rawhide.  Everyone in the office signed the handle too.

You are getting better all the time Mike! That's a good sized blade out of the thunderchert - I've always given up on it way before producing something like that . Looks like you made the chief's day..

Thanks guys.  Truth be known I broke the preform early on, but since it was the last big piece I had handy, I superglued it back together.    I actually did most of the reduction and shaping after the repair and the glue joint held up and knapped just fine, (and I didn't break it again, so I was pretty happy about that).  I was able to "hide" the glue joint in the handle.
