My new "favorite" 55" osage (full draw added)
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:58:41 pm »
I never made a bow that would break my heart if it broke...till this one.
I generally never get very attached to any piece of wood and tell myself, "It's just wood. If it breaks, i'll make another one". But this one's different. This wood was a gift from Ryano.
You all know how it is, you just think more of the things people give you, than the things you already have.
Anyway, it's 55" ntn 1-1/4" wide with a gradual taper down to about 3/8" nocks. The handle is slightly narrower and just bends enought to see, but not really feel at full draw.  I flipped the tips up just a touch and she draws a smooth 53# @ 27" and shoots better than any i've made.
The skins are a couple of rat snakes my nieghbor gave me.  I wasn't sure how they would look at first, but the more I look at 'em, the more I like 'em!
I don't have a full draw shot yet, but will try to use the timer on my camera and see if I can get one soon.

Thanks Ryan, I hope I done your wood justice!

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Great looking bow Shannon, rat snake skins are way under-rated, They look great.
