First Deer with a Stickbow
« on: October 05, 2024, 08:47:53 pm »
Well its been a while coming but I harvested my first deer with a selfbow this morning. It was a spike at about 10 yds or so. Not a perfect shot but good enough so I'm happy about it. So with that said, I do want to thank everybody on here who did so much schooling and passed on the knowledge on bow making. I would post a photo but mine are always distorted.

Congratulations. I agree with Pappy. I’m sure you will be playing that over in your head for a long time. I’d like to tell you it gets easier but it’s still very challenging and the second one is as memorable as the first for me. Still working on number three.

Good luck with your journey. Hopefully this is just the beginning

Thanks fellas, It was quite memorable. I've taken lots with a wheelie bow over the years but this was something special for me.

Glis Glis, All,
I'll try and post one but my photos are always distorted. I don't have an image hoster or whatever you guys use.

Well done!  That's one tasty looking buck.  Welcome to the ranks of the very few in the modern world who have made meat with a stick and string.

Good job Piddler. Nice deer , should be some good eating. I haven’t hunted deer in a while but have been thinking about trying it again with one of my bows..  might give it a go after it cools off a bit more.
