I'm working on a Rock Maple stave that I think would make a good 5Curve bow. Has anyone tried using this tree for selfbow?

Many selfbows have been built with rock(sugar, hard) maple. It is a proven selfbow wood.

I use Norway maple sometimes and itīs one of the best bow woods up there with the best elm - but maple is a dream to work compared with elm. Rock maple should be as good, or even better from what I have read.

Okay I started shaping the limbs and found a vein of spalting and dead heartwood. I decided to scrape out the dead wood creating a hollow limb design. I filled the remaining pith with super glue. I think I'm going to be Okay. I'm going to steam in the curves and hope nothing splits.
