New trade points mounted
« on: May 20, 2008, 06:55:31 am »
Got my trade points mounted, they are 160 grain and shoot like darts. They are mounted on Hickory shafts with Turkey feather fletch.I didn't selfnock them because I barrel tapered the shafts and
there wasn't enough wood left. The whole arrow weighs around 650 grains.  :) They are 50/1000
thick and you can put an edge on them like a razer.

Thanks,I made them from a bandsaw blade that came from a big cut off saw at the Nissan plant.I
have a friend that is in the maintenance dept.and when they can't repair the blade they throw them away.He brings them to me and I make knifes, scrapers and trade points. :)

Pappy, Those are quite deadly looking and with the hickory shafts you ought to be able to punch a hole in just about any animal you shoot at.
I believe that in NC those would be considered a barbed point(illegal) because of the side slots. I don't get it but apparently the "powers..." don't either. ;D   I wouldn't hesitate to hunt anything with that set-up!   8)       Pat

Thanks,I think they will,if I don't it won't be because of the head.Ya John from what I have seen so far they are tough,a little trouble to get straight but seem to stay straight after you get them straight and sealed.Pat I ant sure on the barbed I guess I should check, but to be honest I don't think or Warden would know the difference,he already thinks I am crazy for hunting with the stuff I hunt with anyway. Dana I will measure them and get back to you I think they are 1 inch wide and
1 3/4 long and made out of 50/1000 thick band saw blade, they weight 160 grains.
