New osage bow-full draw pic

Pat, dammit, you jinxed me  >:( :)  First one I've popped in awhile, but this one hurts. What really sucks is that I haven't had hardly any time to work on bows lately, so I've been working on this one slowly for the last six months or so, and it was shaping up to be a perfect bow. Had it tillered out to 21"- tiller was looking great, weight was perfect, holding 2 1/2" of reflex, then pow!-sounded like a shotgun going off. Oh well, back to the old drawing board.

Rick, no blood-thanks to Jawge's sermons about the rope and pulley.  :) Radius, unfortunately, my face normally looks pretty much like that.  ;D

I feel your pain, looks like it broke quite a ways out on the limb. Steve

That's actually the first piece of osage that I've ever broken. I think what happened was that I didn't give it enough time to rehydrate after I flipped the tips up on it (dry heat). Lesson learned, anyway.

Man, I hate that for you! If you don't ever break one, means you're not making any. Can you find anything on the break that might tell why it broke?

We won't even mention the nice built-up walnut, birds-eye maple, and yellowwood handle riser.  ;D

Dang it ! I hate when that hapens..... :(
Was it pretty thin ringed Osage? I use dry heat all the time on it and work on it as soon as it cools and never had that happen.
Its November, I'm gone hunt'in.......
Osage is still better.....

Ryan, it had great rings and earlywood/latewood ratio, actually. I've gotten away with it in the past, too, but I can't see any other obvious reason why it broke, so in the futeure I believe I'll let 'em sit a couple days after heating before I string it again.

Man, that's one sad face ;D. Too bad that end broke off - I've yet to experience that. I'm gonna lay off on bows for awhile, some bad mojo goin on here lately - yeah right ;D.
