Trying to figure out spine tester plans

Good site for getting the basics for arrow tuning.From there you can progress.
Years ago I did the bare shaft and paper tuning of arrows with a bow making friend in his shop and never forgot it.
It can help you enjoy archery whether it be target shooting or hunting.
I use a digital dial indicator on my spine tester set up since I make my own arrows too.Very accurate.Just need to buy a new battery every great once in a while.
Their bow press on that site was not what I needed though.

Cool Don.Guess I could of done it that way too.I have a digital caliper also.You have to have a vey loose fitting calipers to detect the slightest weight.
Here's mine with the digital dial indicator that detects the slightest weight.26" spread between resting posts.2 pound weight used.mm to pound conversion chart given in the book.Chart measures from 30#'s to 70#'s.

So Don the measurement is being done from the bottom stick that comes out of the caliper? I didn’t know that took the same measurement as the jaw, so you just put that against the arrow shaft to measure deflection? And then What do you do with the decimal you get?

I made a spine tester from the website Don posted.  I added bearings so I could spin the arrow as well.  For the weight I used a 1 1/2 galvanized nipple and cap then filled with shot to make 1.94 lbs then melted the shot and stuck a piece of wire in for the hanger.  Works great.

The "stick" has the same measurement. I use the chart with the measurements. The chart is in decimal which I need to convert to inches.

I need to update the page. I did eventually buy a digital caliper to use.

There is a chart out there that converts the decimals.  You can take a known weight arrow and put it on your scale and mark the bend, as well.  I normally use the dial caliper!
