My First Arrow
« on: May 08, 2008, 04:01:27 pm »
This was my first try at making a arrow tell me what you guys think. I got ALOT of info from you guys. The fletchings are Wild Turkey 5" long by 1" tall. The shaft is 5/16 Hardwood dowel rod. The trade point is saw blade, to thick though it weighed 235 grn. But, what can I say it was just a learning arrow.

Thanks guys.

nice arrow dude, looks like it would leave a mark.

gotta luv them buzzard feathers on stick arrows, they never look quit as cool 8) on carbon or aluminum.

keep up the nice work.
i'm fixin to try and make some soon, have some red osier drying, four fresh buzzard wings waiting to have the feathers picked and deboned(for calls).

Looks great to me!  If it flies good, I wouldn't worry about how much the point weighs.  If it seems a little noisy, you might trim the feathers down a little shorter. ;)
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

That is a fine looking arrow, you've got the mechanic's down pat.The proof is in the pudding.See how well that one flies.then if needed, start fine tuning untill you got your spine, head wieght, etc. down to a lethal and good flying arrow. Good work !   Frank

It doesn't which wing you shoot as long as you use the same side feathers on the same arrow.     Pat

I traced the shape on a piece of plexie glass cut 2 out on a scroll saw  sanded them the same then used one of those  metal clamps to hold them to the feather then cut with scissors.
