weird tillering, pls I need help
« on: March 21, 2021, 07:18:42 am »
Hi everybody,

there is something weird with my tillering. I took 2 pictures and 2 videos to show you this weird tillering. in the video called "seems to be a good tillering" the tillering seems to be good for me. In this video I hold my bow well and the piece of leather is in my hand (that's why you can't see it).

But in the video called "weird tillering, pls help !" the tillering is not the same. and it seems to be a bad tillering. Then idk if I should trim a limb more than the other one or if my tillering is good.

here is the link to watch both videos:

Furthemore the tillering in pictures that I attached below seems to be not totally good BUT the tillering in the first video seems to be good. (pictures show 2 sides of the bow)
ask me if you want me to take more videos or pictures.

here is the link to see 2 pictures:

Pls help :)

Best regards,
Denis

I think that these pictures show us the real tillering now.
The 2 pictures show the 2 sides of the bow. I think I will trim a side a little bit later what do you think ?

I think what you are seeing is asymmetry in the bend of the limbs and a difference in strength. In the second video the bottom limb appears to be bending more than the top. Compared to the bow in the first video the second bow is bending more in the inner and mid limbs. I notice that the handle on both bows appears quite long which also gives the shape a bit of an odd appearance.

Yes the handle is quite long.

Did you see 2 pictures that I sent in my last message at 7:47 ? If yes did you see that limbs bend almost in the same way ?  Then I think I did something weird in the first videos. idk what do you think ?

In the pictures, one limb is bending more in the inner limb compared to the other. Both are bending mostly in the inner 1/3rd of the limb with increasingly less bend in the rest of the limb. The tiller shape is likely inefficient for the width profile of the bow which probably needs more bend in the outer limb.

Unless your Longfellow, Robert Louis Stevenson, or Charles Dickens one picture is worth a 1000 words. :)

Idk how I can insert pictures. I can't attach pictures because they are are too large. On the top of this message there is a bottom called something like "insert image" then I cliked on it and it wrote in my message ""

Resize the pictures, pictures have to be pretty small to be uploaded onto here.
However Ryan knows his stuff do what he suggests and you won't be far wrong.
