matius reported a difference of 9 FPS, but his B5o string wasn't all that great.

I have a few bows that others gave me with FF type strings but I still prefer B-50, B-55 for my bows. It has always worked well for me so I'll stick with it until they quit making it.  I don't care about speed. As long as my bows are accurate that's all that matters.

I think it depends on bow, and your release,, but sometimes around 5 fps,, seems realistic,,
I shoot b55 most the time,, I just cant get used to the thinner string,,, but if I am testing a bow, sometimes I use fast flight just to see what it will do,, but hunt with a thicker string most the time,,

If I build B55, and ff at the same string count at 8 strands now, the ff shoots on average of  6 fps faster. If I build the bow for myself I want that 6 fps.  With 35 to 45 lb. bows, and my short draw I will take all the speed I can muster up how ever it comes to me.

As was mentioned, it is more than just speed that you'll gain.  There are other significant advantages such as less shock and a more solid feel and likely easier to make it super quiet.  They're both "modern" materials so I don't see one as more "traditional" than the other.  Also, I HATE working with B55 because its is so much stiffer than B50 was.....so I'm all in on D97, 452X and 8125 string materials.

I agree on it not being all about speed. The selfbows i make just feel better shooting fasflight
I would be very disappointed if I had to go back to b50.

I have a few selfbows that were given to me with FF type strings. Like Brad, I don't like skinny strings and I'm satisfied with the strings I make and use. To each his own.

Less shock, ...

And a lot less.
