atlatls help

How do you make atlatls? Im new to this stuff and I want to make atlatls along with bows  so I was wondering how you make them (AT)

Pull up atlatl on the web, check the Primitve section here.  They come in several styles.  Basically, get a strong stick or board about 2 feet or so, put an antler or bone point in one end and get a dart with a depression in the butt and throw.  Have fun!  Also some kits available.  Helps to have a dart rest on the grip area, if you want one.

  will give you some ideas. atlatl designs can be fairly simple and still work well. making nice throwing darts takes a bit more work

The University of Missouri website has a set of plans for one style, I think.  Researching your way through the information will take some time, as there is a surprising amount of stuff.  Btw, when/if you go to the local range, be ready for lots of questions and strange looks!
