Rawhide grips

Have never used rawhide grips and was looking for people's experiences, with function and aesthetics.  Thanks guys.

I used rawhide dog chews for my machette.  I put them in hot water till they are soft and sticky and wind the layers on , you can  actulally mold it a bit with your hand. After it hardend out you can sand the sharp edges off. You should put a water proof finish over it or it will become soft again.

I agree with Ricardo. Be sure to seal it well not only from atmospheric moisture but from hand moisture.
