Who would be interested in a knife trade KITH?
« on: July 05, 2020, 02:56:54 pm »
I’ve really enjoyed the couple of trades here that I’ve participated in since joining. I’d like to gauge interest in another one this summer.

If folks are wanting to do it, I’d like to propose a theme. I have been fascinated by the little knife carried by Otzi the Iceman. My suggestion is that we all take inspiration from that knife and go whatever direction feels right with our preferred materials and methods.

I’d love to see how everyone interprets the concepts of the little knife, so would love to see pictures posted here, along with thoughts about decisions made in crafting the knives.

So, anyone interested?

If there’s interest, I was thinking aiming for September. It doesn’t really take long to make a knife, but it can be a while between opportunities to get in the shop.

I’d be interested and the time frame sounds reasonable.
I also like the idea of a theme, helps keep me in track at least  ;D

Well, three in is still a fun trade. I figure that we can wait until Sunday for anyone else who wants to do it. After that, as many as are in can start our knives. I’m already doing concept sketches.

I’m glad there is at least some interest. I really enjoy trades like this.

Stock removal is fine!  Remember that all stone blades were and are stock removal blades!  I just love to see the creativity in folks’ work. The trade I participated in first even had a bone blade for one knife!  That was really cool!

Tomorrow, Sunday, anyone who has opted in will get a name of a recipient. I want to give just a little more time for those who check in on weekends to consider participating.

I don't know diddly about making knives, but I just wanted to chime in and say, what a great idea.  I had to google otzi quiver knife.  Amazon has a couple of very interesting steel takes on the design.  I've been looking for a good little knife for my new quiver...hmmm...

Sorry to be a day late on this.  I had dad stuff that needed doing.

Since we only have the four of us, I reckon we can just send knives to the person who posted after us.

So I will send one to KHalverson.

Khalverson will send one to dylanholderman.

Dylanholderman will send one to Ed Brooks.

Ed Brooks will send one to me.

If anyone does not actually want to be on the list after all, please say so ASAP.

And let's say the date of completion will be September 15th.  That gives us 2 months, which should be ample.

Please send your address via PM to whoever is making your knife.

Sorry I just couldn’t get in guys. I’ve just been way to busy to get any time to work on anything. Will try to keep a eye on this thread though

Sorry. also. I'm dealing with some shoulder issues that just hurt too much to do squat right now. Sure looks like fun, though. I've already duplicated Otzi's copper ax and have a similar one made out of stone on the shelf, now.

I'd love to do a knife trade. I'd have to wait till I'm at the point were I can make a knife.  But it would be awesome.

I’ve been busier than anticipated in real life and not checking back. Sorry!

Here’s my Iron Otzi knife. Still need to make a sheath. Probably tomorrow.
