This is kinda my fave wood at the moment. It's just gorgeous wood. For some reason the sapwood on this piece darkened when it dried. It's snow white when fresh and I've had it stay that way but this one didn't. Really hard to find good wood. Normally has lots of twist but these billets were good. It's 68" NTN. 1 1/2" at the fades, tapering to 1 1/8" 20" out and then to 3/8" tips. It's bit heavy for me at 45#@28 but if I ever take up shooting a lot again I can fix that. 1" of reflex and negligible set. Tip overlays are Ninebark and handle wrap is from an old couch.

Very nice. Tiller looks great and I like the glue line in your fades. Always cool seeing a bow made from wood I’ve never heard of.

Nice! I have found a few pieces that were big enough to make a bow, but very few. Good find, and bow!

Well made bow DC.I like it.Our kind of equivilent type of wood here is the dogwood.Very dense/elastic and takes heat treating well.An occasional bow made from that too when big enough.

Thanks guys. This is the second, maybe third, Ninebark I've made. I've overbuilt them all. Next one I'll stress a bit more to give the wood a better test.

Thanks guys. I had the chrono set up today so I ran this through. I got 177fps@10gpp. I'm thinking that's not to bad for an overbuilt straight selfbow.

It has many layers of bark and it sheds in thin sheets. I guess someone thought there was nine layers
