Tanning deer tails?
« on: November 23, 2019, 06:53:21 pm »
A friend gave me some deer hides and had asked me to tan the tails for an her dad’s Christmas present, has anyone done this before? I was thinking of using Deer Hunters & Trappers Hide Tanning Formula (red bottle). Any input appreciated  :D

I have never used the product you mentioned, but I would guess it would work. You will have to remove the bone though. For any fur bearing animals I tan or even just air dry. I split the tail and remove the bone. Then if any meat or fat scrape it off. Then I would guess you could follow directions on bottle.
