54" NTN Sinew backed Osage flatbow

I haven't been on this forum in years. Recently I started building bows again. This was a bow I had started years ago. I found a crack near one of the tips that would have been fatal I believe. I shortened both limbs, flipped the tips and sinew backed it. Somehow I got the lower limb longer than the top so tillering has been interesting . It still has some tiller issues that need to be addressed but it is getting close. On the upper limb there is a knot hole dead center of the limb about 8" from the fade so I am leery of causing a hinge there so it is tough to get that portion moving. The bottom limb matches it in that it isn't bending much right out of the fades. Should be about 50lb at 27".

Once I figure out what spine arrow it will like, I hope to hunt antelope with it next year in Wyoming. It is pretty short and should be a good bow for shooting out of a blind.

       You got a lot of bend out of that Osage!...Goes to show that sinew is wonderful protection and is doing it's job on your application...Agree with you on the fades, they need to move a lot more...What does the unstrung profile look like? Looks like a quick shooter...

More bend than I intended! I checked my tiller tree after reading a post here and realized it was off.  I drew it to over 28" so it won't hold 50lbs at 27 like I thought. It will be closer to 40.  It may be a good thing though. With sinew it may pic up a few pounds when it cooler weather gets here.

That's some peace of mind now knowing it will draw further than you intend it without blowing up. Not a bad thing.

Sadly though it also caused me to come in under my target weight.

You can glue on raised blocks on the tip, shape them into recurves to get more draw weigh from the bow. An inch tall on each limb will make a difference.

I dont have any. Just image a tall overlay glued onto your limb tip. I got the idea from the Traditional Bowyers Bible. I have seen it done, it looks good. I have done a few that raised the nock up an inch.
