I don't use glue. I use 3m ATG Transfer tape. It's super thin, very sticky, neat, easy to use, holds in all weather, but if you ever want it off, you just rip the leather off... most leather will let go before the tape... then roll the tape off the bow with your thumb, with no damage to the finish.
If you can't find the 3M ATG tape, or don't need that much, or don't want to spend that much, the tape they sell in the flooring dept of home improvement stores is close enough to the same thing, and comes in smaller rolls. It's used to hold down adhesive-less vinyl flooring at door openings and such.
I also use this tape to hold the built-up leather arrow shelves on my bows, and have never had a failure in either application.
