Deflex Recurve
« on: May 05, 2019, 03:37:11 pm »
I started this bow a year ago but put it aside then lost interest.  A few weeks ago I got a renewed interest in working on a bow so I decided to take it down and do some work to it.  The bow is Maple backed Buckthorn 62" in length.  I tillered it to 50# @ 28".  I debated with myself for awhile but decided of a left hand bow since I already have one in right hand.  I shot it some and it does shoot well.

There's no snow left outside but it is mucky and it was too nice out to take indoor photos so opted for a woodshed.   Here's some pics.

You seem to like to build that style quite a bit.  Looks good.  50# getting a little stiff for you young punk aint it.

You took the words right out of my mouth Don.

Beautiful bow Marc. Sure would love to shoot one of yours someday.

Marc, is that 62" direct or following the curves?

Very nice Sir. Looks like it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

Yup... what they all said.
I love the way there are several different curves all melting into each other.

Lovely limb action, just lovely.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

Thanks guys.

It is 62" long following the curves Don

I glued in about 4" of reflex into this bow and it maintains about 1.5" right after an hour of shooting it.  I did pull it to 29" a couple times so it is secure at 28"
