Hard-backed Yew #2
« on: October 29, 2018, 05:12:10 pm »
This is my second successful hard-backed yew D/R made from billets and a "homemade" backing strip. It's not quite as fast as the last one (shoots in the 160s), but I really enjoy shooting it nonetheless. These bows are a ton of work, so I think I'm gonna take a little break from them for now and get back to selfbows and a few with sinew.  )P(

Anyways, here are the specs...

64" ttt
53# @ 27"
English Yew w/ hickory backing
Paduk and hickory handle build up
tanned bullsnake skins
whitetail antler tip overlays
leather handle

P.S. I know there aren't that many pics, my camera ran out of batteries. Let me know if you'd like to see any other shots and I'll take them tomorrow.

Thank you very much for looking.  :)

Good job on that one. I like it. Sure a puzzlement why one is faster than the other but I guess if we knew that this would be easy.

Seems you are getting versed in these tricky and workful bows sir! Way cool and beautiful! Cheers

Wow so many nice bows posted this morning.  That turned out to be a beauty.  I love your finish work Jeff.  The tiller looks real nice.  It should be a reliable shooter for a long time.  Great job.
