bind the ends of sinew?

Evening!
In my paranoia I was wondering if it is necessary to bind the ends of a sinewed bow and if it is, do you use sinew or thread? If you use sinew then how do you stop it pulling away as it shrinks??

Andrew, I usually do but I don't know if it's necessary. I have used silk thread and sinew. If you use hide glue on the sinew wrap you shouldn't need any other method of fastening but you can always loop the tag end of the sinew under the last few wraps and draw it tight.

Might try weighing it down with a piece of wax paper between the sinew and the weight.  A drop of TB3 will work too, but the sinew should bond to itself if it is wet enough to, I think.

Like Aaron said, add reflex.
I do this constantly until the sinew is completely dry. After three weeks or so I do some wrapping (sinew) on the ends and the handle to prevent sinew lift off when drawing the bow.

The bow pulled in an inch or so of reflex as it cured; I will hide glue a 1/2" long layer of sinew around the ends. Thanks all.
