My New Hunting Bow, Osage Recurve 62", 58#@27"
« on: July 30, 2018, 02:36:53 pm »
I finally found the time to make myself a new bow! I've been chipping away at this project for many months now. My goal was a fast, hard hitting bow that would be durable and hassle free. I didn't want to have any skins, leather, overlays, shelves, etc to worry about, just a bent stick of wood. The bow is 62" long and pulls 58#@27". I went with some simple, sturdy pin nocks. The stain was done with vinegar and steel wool and the finish is tru oil. The silencers are otter fur. I really pleased with how this bow turned out. I plan to use it hard for many years to come. Hopefully it will make some meat for my family. Sorry for subjecting you to so many pictures. I kinda nerded out and explored my space a little.

Not bad, lefty.  It stinks like meat already.

Thanks for the encouraging words, fellas! It definitely felt good to get back to some basics. I've been getting requests for fancy bows lately and they've been stressing me out. I will try to put this bow to the test on some North Carolina white-tails this fall. I'm ready to end my dry spell.
