Snow White
« on: February 14, 2018, 04:07:43 pm »
My daughter has been asking me to make her a bow since the first one I've built. I started this one the same time I started my second bow. They are all from the same Ash tree. This one had a nasty knot and emerald ash bore holes and I just set it in the corner. Awhile back I picked it up and chased a ring on it. It was so incredibly white. I decided to make her a birthday bow. Put black walnut sapwood, mullberry and black walnut on handle. Tips are ebony from recycled piano. They look better than my pictures. No stain just prairie rattler skins and 6 coats of tru oil.

Just over 62" n-t-n
35lbs @ 23" draw
Lefty but no shelf

Here she is Snow White

Thanks Pat, Dave and George.
Jeff she has no idea. It's a complete surprise. Her birthday is in a couple weeks. I've got one Red Osier target arrow to go with it so far. Sometimes I think it's about the same time to make one of these arrows.
Thanks Morgan

Nice bow BJ. You have your own style now, I can pick your bows out of the crowd!

Looks great! I really like the feathering in on the edges of the skins. It has a unique too to it that I really like compared to a sharp transition.

ThankYou everyone. I actually got about seven new bows shooting right now that I haven't prettied up yet. I might even leave a couple that way it's just so fun shooting em like that. But tried a few different types.
Kyle I like that worn edge to. I like to if I can cut one skin in two and do each limb with one half. Then I lightly file away edge giving it a worn distressed look.
