Questions reguarding Cherokee bows
« on: January 04, 2018, 08:42:03 pm »
Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone could give me any dimensions of a traditional Cherokee bow. I looked in the Boyers Bible and they seem to be a bend through the handle D style bow. They appear to have  diamond shape tips on them. The pics are hard to see if the handle tapers at all or stays the same width as the widest limb width. Does anyone have any recommendations of lengths, widths, thicknesses, and any tapers at all throughout the bow. if anyone has any pics also that would be great. I was going to build this for a gentleman down in the south east US who is part Cherokee. This is why i want to make it as close as possible to a vintage bow. Thank you for the help and info in advance. Anthony

It's a kind of bow I like alot tough I've built only one (BL 55@29)
Its simple and minimal design doesnt affect performances and you have the scalloped style shape to choose if you want to go fancy

Thank you guys. My other question would be since the bow is far from being center shot since the handle area is as wide as the widest limb width would you use a lighter spine arrow to curve around handle to help with paradox?

Yep.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
