Thanks guys,yes Dave I have to admit it.I am working on an Iron Wood now,I think it is
going to be good.Greg have turned out some real nice ones lately.Hickory is tough  wood
but Osage is just sweet to work with.  :)

Pappy, you are an artist.... your bowyer skills are not only good... but fast becoming legendary  around these parts... if you run out of room to store all of those beautiful bows .. I have lots of space here for storage..lol ....thanks for sharing brother .. Hawk  a/ho

Question about Flipped Tips...

Hello Pappy,

Beautiful Bow!!

I'm new to bow making, and have never flipped no tips.
 
I had been under the impression that the flipped part of the limbs were supposed to be part of the "working limbs" and were supposed to straighted out some.. (flex) at full draw - more than what I see on this bow.  So, is the purpose for the flipped tip mostly to provide a lower string angle?  Is this considered a Static Re-curve?   And, how is that differant from an R/D bow?

I'd appreciate some explanation on the functionality of the Flipped Tip compaired to the R/D Limb.  'cause I'm confused..?

BTW, I've been doin' some bow building lately; board bows, and my first stave bow.  I look forward to sharing some pictures and asking a lot more newbie type questions.

A clean lined bow that one.  I have yet to really peg a particularly outstanding osage selfbow

Thanks guys,Ya justin  ;) :) Canoe,I do it mainly for string angle,these as with most of mine are somewhere between Static and working,they are thin enough to bend a little at full draw.A
static don't bend at all,you would want to leave them a little thicker.As far as R/D don't know
I have never done one at least not intentionally. :) Some of these guy do a lot of them and will probably ck. in. :)
