New addition to the family
« on: August 29, 2017, 10:34:41 pm »
Several months ago our little mutt of a dog passed away from old age.  Since then out other dog has been pretty lonely.  I finally convinced the wife that we needed a puppy.  I did not want a pure bred dog.  From our experiences we have had less health problems with mutts compared to pure breds.  I wanted a smaller dog since it's going to be in the house.  After searching petfinder, local shelters, and craigslist for a month I finally found something that seemed to fit what I was looking for.  It was a good distance from home but my daughter had a cross country meet in that town tonight so it worked out great.  We picked her up right before the meet.

She is 50% Boston Terrier, 25% shitzu, and 25% poodle.  That's close enough to a mutt for me.  She is a dark brindle color with some white patches and white front feet.  She is very playful and friendly with people.  She was following everyone around at the meet.  She definitely likes being around people.  She is sound asleep between my feet right now.  It's been a long time since we've had a puppy in the house.   It's short bursts of energy followed by a nap.

I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I can see the resemblance Clint.  ;) my daughter just got her first puppy. You'd think it was or first grandkid the way my wife and her fell for it. I hope all works well for your family. A good puppy can grow into a very valuable family member. Here's to many happy years together.

After much discussion we settles on Cece.  We picked her up on the way to a CC (Cross Country) meet.

The first night went pretty well.  She did OK sleeping through the night.  It was fun watching her interact with our other dog.

She looks like a qualified mutt with that background.  Be careful, she can steal hearts, sock, underwear, and probably learn to unroll the toilet paper as soon as she can reach it >:D.  CECe can also be "Crazy Critter" - puppies are like that,  good lick with her, and good luck to your daughter in her cross country career.
