Different sounds

I was just out shooting in a new bow and decided to see if it would shoot any different upside down. It sounds different. One way the string twangs quite noticeably and the other it's quite dead, just a little thump. Same length limbs. Anyone care to say/guess what might be causing this?

One of these days I'm going to ask a question like this and someone is going to say, "Oh that, yeah take two scrapes off the bottom limb." I just keep thinking that over the years little clues and their cure might have developed. I guess maybe this is the kind of stuff that was lost during the F glass years. Rant mode off

Because flipping it over(negative tiller?) creates better dynamic balance in this bow, less noise, less hand shock, more efficiency, better arrow flight, etc. I'd keep it like that.

Little clues. Yep, bows know... and drop them like a trail of breadcrumbs, sometimes like an anvil. Too often we never see them, or ignore them.

Perhaps you should chrono the bow both ways to see if there is a performance advantage

I will but my results with the chrono are not very consistant.

OK I did 10 readable(no errors) each way. I got an average of 156 noisy way and 153 quiet way. The noisy way was total of 10 shots(no errors) Quiet way was about 14-15 shots. I looked at the +- tiller and I think i will take a few scrapes off the bottom limb just for kibitz. It is the first time I have ever shot 10 shot error free. 156 isn't that great but it's a beautiful yew branch bow. I'll post it in a day or so.

  Tim Baker gave me a red oak board bow years ago. I took it home and shot it looking for the sweet spot. One way it shot perfect, if I flipped it over it would shoot about 2 feet to the left from only about 12 yards away. Tiller was even at brace but I found a soft spot on the bottom limb at full draw 26". That's all I could come up with, string was tracking right down the center. I think the soft spot was more exaggerated when it was the top limb.

wow thats very interesting,,I would have thought the quite way would have been faster,, but I learn something all the time,,
I think the 156 is great, ,cause you learn something about the bow and your release,, when you start to get duplicate shots,, you are getting consistant,,

With my usual inconsistency 3 fps would class as a tie, I think. If I was to do it again it may come up the other way. I was quite pleased. The fast way had a low of 151 and a high of 160. The slow was 146 and 158. The 146 was way low, the next lowest was 151 so I flubbed that one.
