Carrying a hand saw on a walk in the countryside can be really embarassing. Any recommendations for an alternative?

I made a sheath for a drywall saw(6"blade) and carry that on my walks. I only cut stuff under 3" with it though.

I got a fiskars 10" folding pruning saw. It's very sharp, quiet, cheap. It's like 11 1/2" long. Fits in the inside pocket of my jacket, tucked in my belt, backpack. Or like Don says make a sheath. Cheers- Brendan

Why is it embarrassing to carry a saw in public? And who cares what people think... unless you don't have permission to cut...

I'd be embarrassed to walk down the road with earbuds in...

There's a huge amount of scrub woodland on brown-field sights around my village which no-one lays claim to, so can't find anyone for permission to cut................

A wire cable saw will roll up, and easily fit in a pouch or pocket - you could wear it as a hat band, as well .  Of course, you would only meet someone on the day you find 3 good staves😂😇.  Where's the village?

Where are you? I'm guessing somewhere on the left side of the pond? If you are on this side, you can find out who owns the land by searching property records, usually online. It's possible that the government has taken possession because the polluters are out of the picture. In that case, I'd probably just hike in and cut something I could carry out.

Firstly don't waste your time worrying what other people think and secondly look at 'Silky' saws

I've cut some pretty big stuff with a folding pruning saw. Damn sharp, cheap and convenient.

My current saw is a contractors panel saw, those Silky pocket saws look very nice; I feel an upgrade coming on
