Another maple BB
« on: March 24, 2017, 08:32:18 pm »
Had another maple BB of same design as the other one I posted today..72", pyramid style, lien cloth backed this time. The other was silk.  This one was a terrible mess from sloppy bandsaw work, and had 3 hinges. I put wood patches on them and the tiller was still far from great but much better.  42# at 28".  It actually shoots pretty ok but it's a mess to look at!

You had bandsaw problems on both bows, how are you cutting them out?, try this, leave a little wood between the line and the blade and tip the board so as to leave a peak on the belly side of the bow, this will rasp off in minutes and save a lot of heartache😉

Can't argue with that! I need to learn more patience and get more skill too.

Just wait till I finish the bow that had been shortened 2 feet and added siyahs because of a machete error 😂

Now if I screw up the Osage staves I got on eBay THAT will be heartache!

Keep your hands away from the bandsaw - you don't need it!
Learn to work with a good drawknife and I'm sure you get what you want.
