Several in the area. Me, Sean (1/2 primitive), Roger, and several others. The hard part is getting together I've found :)..

I hunt private land - hunting public land can potentially get you shot " in the hospital with gunshot wound" - hey doc, Last thing I remember was stepping on a twig ;D. I'm thinking 10 to 15 yard range is comfortable to me, depends if it's a deer or squirrel..

Yeah, I'm here in the DFW area.
We are going to be having a get together around here soon, at the Denton County Archer's range. Check the website for directions for the gathering, or just to shoot. www.dentoncountyarchers.com
The gathring will be on April 26.

Just thought Id mention that I have purchased some land in Reeves County, TX (West Texas) with intentions of replanting native grasses and trees. There are mulies/whitetails/coyote/bunnies and pronghorn.  Id love it if some other primitive archers bought some land up this way to develop a mega-sized "primitive only" hunting preserve.  I might even consider getting some African Antelope (Oryx seem to do well in this part of the country). Ifn ya can find some private land ta hunt like Paul  (Cowboy ) said ita a LOT safer. Public land is a crap shoot and you will spend more time watching fer other hunters (read gun hunters here)  than lookin' fer game. Good luck.......bob

Pecos mike, thats Awsome!  Itll be awhile bfor' I could afford to getsome land,  but if you need help gettin' rid of some hogs, Id love to make a vacation out of it. ;D    Bob,   most of the public land around here is archery only for hogs anyways....there not much public land that allows deer hunting out my way,  but as far is safety is concerned, the only time that I have felt that the situation could be dangerous is during duck season.  I love duck hunting, I hunt public, and it does get crowded.  We have had shot rain down on us, but never any injuries.  You gotta watch out for the "barnies"   Last season I had a guy setup 25 yards away from my spread,   at least #2shot will do less damage than a slug, but you gotta be pretty crazy to get up early enough to hunt waterfowl on public land anyways.

Mike W: Theirs a gold rush going on in McKinney with all the development going on - but nobody knows what kind of gold it is. Their shoving down acres and acres of nice osage and chipping it up - you aughta get in on some of that if you can.

Looks like this thread has been dormant for a while, and seeing as I'm new to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, let me try to wake this one up. Are there any primitive archery groups active in this part of the state? I'm over in Euless, about midway 'tween the two cities.
