hard stuff
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:58:49 am »
I got it bad and know it. every place I go, I'm looking for material, bow wood, arrow wood, rocks you name it. my son came home with a rock the other day, and asked if it would work for me to make points out of. I told him it looked pretty hard, however i managed to get a point. I was going to put it in ABO but I ended up using a nail for final edge work. I think its a quarts material of some kind but not sure. Thanks for looking. Ed

Nice point for that material. The rock looks like Gneiss to me.

Ed, is the rock in the second photo from North Carolina? Looks a lot like rhyolite to me. Rick B

RickB, my son found it along the river here in Washington state the PNW. I don't believe it was packed in here by the Indians. Ed
