Playing with my new toy

I've been playing around with my airbrush. Trying to come up with a unique camouflage design for the back of a bow. I cut out a couple stencils from some clear plastic something was packed in. I kinda like the last one.

Thanks Del, Thanks Ed, This is just playing on white paper. I think it'll look a lot better on wood and with a sealer coat on top. I kinda got the idea from one of my favorite shirts. Guess I'll have to quit playing and build another bow to try it on. Come to think of it I might have to do a shirt like that.lol

A word of advice for sealing over airbrush paint: don't use wipe on sealers. It'll take it right off. Use aerosol spray and do about 3 VERY light dust coats over the artwork before your first heavy coat. If you go straight to a heavy coat it will bleed like mad!

Thanks Clint, Thanks Bob, I love snake skins but don't have any around here. Looking for something different and I'd say this probably is. Might not show up in pictures but in person you can see all the images even though there all piled on top of each other. Should brake up bows outline.
Make-n-break, thanks for the tip. This isn't paint, it's wood stain. I used two different colors might try even more. I've done the bellies on 6 bows now and put tru oil over top without any problems. I've even scuffed tru oil and brushed stain over that with good results. Will definitely keep your tip in mind when I try paint. May have to spray on a first coat of sealer then.

 Remember you can paint a base color before you stencil. You can lay down color fades or patterns as a base or your over layer. You'll see how quickly the image becomes really complex by doing several simple steps. Eventually it becomes hard to tell how it was even done at all.

Yes make-n-break it is wood stain. It really looks much nicer on wood when you can still see the wood grain too. I really like it on the belly of bow I just put a few images on really pretty subtle. I haven't done a back yet. I think I'll probably try one soon.
