yew and oceanspray
« on: March 11, 2017, 02:50:39 pm »
I'm nearly finished with a couple of winter projects:

A 53" OS experimental bow that I did a concave belly and rawhide back.  14oz.  It stacks at about 25" so that is when I release the arrow.  About 40lbs tops.  I may have dished it out too deep as performance is mediocre.  More experimenting to come.....

And a bow for a friend who is not an archer but thinks the concept is cool.  68"ntn, 45@28.   Instead of thinning the sapwood I decided to trap the back and rawhide what was left.   I straightened but the upper limb still leans and puts the string just off center.  I'm not tickled over this bow and thought about starting another for the gift but family and friends think its great.   It certainly shoots great.  Anyway......

2 really nice bows. The rawhide on the ocean spray is good insurance because of the pins in that wood?I'l have to remember that if I get a hold of some of that wood.

Some really nice bows showing up in the past week and these two are no exception. Very nice. Oh yea, and I'm jealous of that tool wall. My workshop looks like a cyclone went through it.  (W
