New bow
« on: February 08, 2017, 10:03:38 pm »
Haven't made a bow since the trade bow last year. A buddy ask me to make him a light weight bow for him to shoot at a traditional archery league. It's a quarter sawn white ash board, leftover from another project. Wasn't sure a bow was in there, turns out there was. It's 62" long, and only 7/8" wide. It's 38# @ 28". Fun to shoot, I could shoot this thing all day, and that was the goal. I feel like the top limb could bend slightly more at the tip, but in other pics it seems to look fine. Anyway, thanks for looking.

That's a sweet bow you made.  The flipped tips are a nice touch.  I'm impressed you got a bow close to 40 lbs from such a narrow board!  I'm sure your friend will be excited to have such a sweet bow for target shooting.

If you still have the bow or have a picture of it already, would you mind posting an unbraced picture of the bow?

Unbraced in the second pic.  Nice little bow.

Bah! I dunno how I missed that!! For some reason my brain registered that 2nd pic as a different view of the bow strung... Thanks for pointing it out.

Really nice looking bow Dave. You got a lot out of that sliver of ash.

Thanks fellas! I know I like. It'll be tough to give it away, but sometimes that's the best part.

Looks great! I'm curious, It looks like the arrow is nocked dead center. Is the bow asymmetric with the top limb a bit longer?

I like it, very nice and a good weight to shoot all day, I don't see anything wrong with that tiller, looks dead on to me.

Nope, limbs are the same. It's nocked about 1/2" above center.
