granddaughter's bow
« on: February 03, 2017, 11:41:57 am »
I got a  small split of Osage from Hickory Bill and decided to a try at making a kids bow, this one is about 20# at 20" and 56"NTN. had a small timber rattler that I split and worked out real nice for this bow. Grand daughter going to be 9 this week and out grew her hickory bow. hope she can shoot this one and likes it. Thanks Bill, Bob

am confident she'll think it's STUNNING. Cool!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

I bet she loves it almost as much of the lifelong memory of receiving it!

I made a similar one for my daughter for Christmas. A relative bought her a plastic Nerf bow as well. She hasn't touched the Nerf one. Kids know the difference between real and fake, and I'm sure your granddaughter will as well. Nice work!

Bob made a bow!?!? :o And a nice looking one at that.  I guess the real question is how many breaks you took to knap points while making it.

Are you gonna be at the snow shoe shoot on the 19th? Haven't seen you in a while. The wife's vehicle is still out of commission so I haven't been able to make it to a Tuesday knapping session in ages. The wife and I will be at the shoot however. It would be hard to get her not to go after the shot she pulled on that coyote last year.

You should bring one of the "O'Sullivan" bows you built to the shoot this year so the wife and I aren't the only ones with stick bows ;) ;D

Mike, what good is a bow with out some sharp pointy things to go with it :o ;D Not sure if my shoulders going to let me shoot one of my self bows, been having a lot of inflammation arthritis pain. Not even sure if I can shoot my lightest glass bow, Getting old is definitely not for Sissy's  :'(   Hope to see ya at the shoot.  Bob
