lunch time point
« on: September 28, 2016, 02:42:37 pm »
My sis in law got me a small piece of obsidian about softball size. Here is the 1st point, nothing fancy but I like the rock. I'm really liking the antler punch on this obsidian for thinning. Ed

That's how it starts Ed real innocent like next thing you know your walking around looking at the ground for knapable stone. You have to save every nice colored bottle you find, all you can think about is chippin off some nice flakes out of something, maybe and old computer or TV screen. Enjoy it embrace it.

Looks good, I would think antler punch on obsidian would be too much. Bet you got to go easy with it but you got the touch.
There are no bad knappers, only bad flakes

Thank you for taking the time to look, and the nice comments. Bjrogg, this isn't the innocent start I can't help but look for staves, arrow shafts, stone and what ever I can use..lol
Nclonghunter, It doesn't take a lot of force but a good smack. attached are some pic's of a small chunk of obsidian before during and after.
