For years i wore a pair of moose hide mocs everywhere , in the winter i wore sheep skin liners and oiled the leather weekly to waterproof it..... worked great... now i alternate between good boots and a pair of lightweight lakota style mocs, depending on the weather... Mike A/ho

I'm partial to combat boots...but then that's what I was trained in.  ;)
I made a pair of leather shoes when I was into reenacting the middle ages but my heels would get sore after a while (I guess the soles were not thick enough for my tender feet).  In any case, I don't hunt in anything that doesn't have a really tough sole......wouldn't want a stray piece of glass or steel to ruin my hunting trip.  ;D

I like mocs on nice days, other wise it's boots. Put a pair of mocs on and you really slow down because of the sharp pointy things you might step on  :o

If you dont want to worry about stepping on stones when wearing mocs the just go barefoot all warm seasons. I did all last year and there was very little that could hurt my feet. Even jagger bush branches on the ground would not hurt me. Going barefoot did not slow me down much at all. Do not underestimate the toughness of you feet, you just need to work them in. when going barefoot you dont need to worry about getting wet cause feet dry quiker than boots.

yeah moccasins dry pretty quick if you dont think about the wet feet and if you are walking or sitting next to a fire.

I'm a boot wearer.  To much prickly-pear cactus where I hunt.  I may try moccasins one of these times.  I have some that I use when doing the Rondy's.  Guess I never really thought about wearing them while hunting.  Might try them this year.  I don't believe I'll be going barefoot however... ;)

In the early season, I wear mocs with rubbers, and kick off the rubbers when I get close. But later on in the season, you have to wear boots. It's too cold.
