A couple close calls
« on: May 30, 2016, 05:51:18 pm »
My family has had a couple close calls in the last few days.  Tuesday night my son stopped at a red light and the car behind him didn't.  His truck is most likely totaled because of a bent frame.  He was a little sore and bruised up but nothing serious.  He was wearing his seat belt.

My wife works at a dog groomer business.  It's a small room off of a garage.  It sits next to a state highway.  She was off work today because of the holiday.  A driver lost control of his car and crashed through the room where she works.  If it wasn't a holiday she would have been standing right inside where the car first struck.  The wash tub she uses is sitting on top of the car.  It's scary to think what could have happened.

Hopefully that will be all the scary stuff for a while. Sorry for the mishaps. Boy, you go out of town for a while and everything goes to heck.

Whew!, Glad your Wife and Son are OK!  Years ago, I read where a guy in Florida was watching TV during a thunder storm, and got up out of his chair to get a beer, and heard a loud bang, went back to the room, to find lightning had hit a tree out side and sent a bolt in through the window, and hit the chair.  That is one incidence where a beer saved a man's life! ;)

They got both drivers and luckily they have insurance.  I've used this as a learning experience for my son who is a new driver himself.  I pointed out how one moment of not paying attention can cause serious damage and even death to innocent people.

Sure glad know one hurt to bad. We nearly had a bad one on way home from Marshall. We where passing a manure tanker when someone pulled out on the road coming at us head on. He must have just looked one way I braked heavily and he pulled onto shoulder of road as we passed each other he gave me a one finger salute. What a difference from Marshall.

Yes.Makes a person think does'nt it.Very glad the timing was wrong there. Were the idiots texting or drunk?Either way not paying attention to their business.Hopefully they set themselves up for a lot of misery from the authorities in fees along with cancellation of their insurances and drivers license for a long long time.

A 16 year old kid drove into the building.  We found out it was his 3rd wreck and second totaled vehicle since he has had his license.  I hope they don't let him drive for a while.  His dad came to the scene and was letting him have it.   I bet he got it worse when they got home and there wasn't any police around.

Keep your head on a swivel!

Glad to hear everyone is ok.  Don't rush to settle on your son's accident, though.  I have a friend that has debilitating issues from being rear-ended by a texting driver.  It continued to get worse even a year after the accident.  Everyone jokes about "whiplash", but when your central nervous system is jacked up, YOU are jacked up.
