Christmas finally closed out
« on: March 20, 2016, 10:43:06 pm »
I finally finished my Christmas gifts.  After the osage stave I was working on for son #1 broke during tillering, my son set his eye on a floor tillered stave I received in the Christmas trade.  The wood is white oak stained with a walnut stain and sealed with 6 coats of tung oil.  It pulls about 50# at 28" but just under 45# at his draw length.  I think he likes the simplicity of this bow because every time I offered to fancy it up, he went with the simple option.  He wants to shoot off the hand.  And before you say it Ajooter, both of us are working to get our elbows down :D

Good tiller on that bow. :) If you concentrate on squeezing your shoulder blades together near the end of the draw it might help with the elbow.

Great tiller Jeff. That alone will make you a lot of good bows.

Great job Jeff. You aren't the only ones that have to concentrate on that high elbow. I've been shooting for years and still find myself slipping back into it.

That will make a fine bow for your son. he has room to grow and still be able to use it. Should last a lifetime.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

thanks everyone.  To be honest, I still feel like a complete newcomer most of the time, so to get such nice compliments from others who make such nice bows really means a lot.  I have learned so much from so many of you, so thanks.
