Well I finally took the time to start a new project. It has been about two years since the last time that I was able to complete a bow and I'm afraid that it has been too long. I decided that I was going to try a hickory backed ipe elb style bow this time and see what came of it. It is 1 1/8" wide at fades tapering to 3/8" at the string grooves with pin nocks. 72" ntn and I am guessing about 60-65@28". Had to glue on some leather build up material for the grip area as it was a little too thin to be comfortable when I shot it. I will see if I can get the wife to get a full draw pic tommorrow. Shot a few arrows out of it this afternoon and really like the way that it shoots. First bend in the handle bow that I have built.

That looks really good. Did you induce any reflex? How much set did it take?

I just glued it up straight. I didn't want to make it any more complicated than I had to . This is the fifth bow that I have tried to build and the first backed one that I have been successful with

. The last two that I attempted to build were backed and blew up when I got them to about 20" draw

. I think that the glue joints weren't the best and I may have been in too much of a hurry to start tillering after I glued them up. Got a little discouraged and didn't build anything for a while. It is great to have a successful one done now. It has about one inch of set immediately after unstringing. Took it back out this am to shoot a little more and couldn't be happier with the way that she shoots. The other two bows that I have built have been flatbows and I have always wanted an ELB style so this is even better in that aspect. I think that the next one I will try to induce a little reflex.
