Heh, guys, it would be useful to have idea how many of these red oak gems will be showing themselves at MoJam.

Sounds like you guys are having plenty of fun. I found that to keep the set down on red oak the back can be trapped to like 60% of the staves full width. It's way strong in tension. When you do this you can keep the set to below an inch and performance will be right up there. When I started making bows there was a reclamation yard nearby (closed down now :( ) that had more red oak boards than you could shake a stick at! RO board bows can be very nice bows.

Knoll,  I have a bunch of RO in the garage. Wait a minute,  I forgot,  those are for that oak curio cabinet I'm building. The wife said that if I use any more of her boards for bows she was kicking my but!  >:D >:D >:D

That pig runs a straight line, ...right?  He doesn't do a zig zagging line down and across the ridge like a real tuskers do I hope! :o   Not that I have any real expectation beyond a total FLUKE shot of hitting him in any case.  :-\

Hitting that pig is easy. Hitting it in the "kill" area is a different matter.
Last year Dave's 11-yr-old son, Vinny, participated for 1st time. That lil stinker hit pig several times. I was shocked . . . and humbled. Then he went over to the aerial shoot and showed 'em how to do that!
