Finished tomahawk

I finally got around to finishing this hawk project. Used black locust for the handle and rawhide for the wraps. The artwork came from some images I got from G.
God Bless!

That thing looks “real”, and “real wicked”! Nice authentic design with excellent knapping and symmetry. The grain orientation on the handle is just right too; no worries about splitting. H.

Thanks guys. I have an old wampum belt that was passed down in my family and it has the same basic design on it. I love the feel of the hawk in the hand, really stirs the blood in a primal way.

That is one bad ass looking Hawk! Just curios, how did you create the space for the blade to fit in the handle?

I made a stone drill and made a couple divots. Then used coal and cane tubes to blow (char) the hole bigger and smoother till the blade fit just right...
Actually, I used an electric drill and a pocket knife.
