It's a piece of pink ivory. That stuff is very hard and dense. It was my first time working with a wood more dense than water. And I think it'll do te job perfectly.

Very nice cabinetguy! Things are looking good on everyone's stuff. I know I would be proud to have any of them.
I noticed my last post on my progress said I had "shot it". In case it wasn't clear, I meant to say "shot-in".  I am working on the stain and finish now, will try to post some progress pictures later.

Well it is off.  I put another 50 arrows through it yesterday and decided I had to get that bow in the mail before I became any more attached to it.  Be looking on your porch about Saturday.  Somebody is going to get a nice yew stick and string.  Now all I can do is sit and drool at all the bows being finished up and wish they were all coming my way. . .

I'm with you guys. Some excellent bows here. Fantastic job to all of you.

I returned from the clinic this morning just prior to lunch. I'm sore but a lot better than I've been for the last 2 weeks. Hope the knee replacements go as smooth as the hernia procedure.

Hopefully can get some final tillering and finish work done after a few more days since it will be light scraping/sanding.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

I hope you come through it with flying colors Fred!!

Took the trade bow out after dinner and shot three arrows..one arrow three shots.  At 15 yards they would have been touching.  There were a few spots on the finish that I was gonna touch up...but I think im gonna letter the bow tonight....put three more coats of laquer on her and ship her out!!  It will be tough packin her up....but...i cant wait to get my trade bow!!

This has been a great time and I look forward to participating again!

Hey guys. I'm just checking in. Haven't found time for bow work for a while but am hoping to in the next few days. Plan a just needs a few more coats of finish and a handle wrap. Heat treated a dogwood bow back in April and am going to try to get it shooting this weekend. Then I will decide which to send out.

Man Kyle, you really put the works to it! I wish I had time to just do bows and sit and read and drool over the stuff being created in this trade.

I got 3 coats tru oil on plan b as of ten minutes ago and will be posting some pics of plan a when I get time to do it justice and when I get rid of the heebie jeebies about being so close on this sinew bow and not wanting to screw it up. Also got the skins for it in and o skinned bow so far so I really want to have no distractions or be hurried when  get to it.

Glad you got the first procedure out of the way Fred. I've had people tell me on post op day 1 that they already felt better than before knee surgery so I hope that's what you got in store buddy.

Here is my finishing picture.  I am using aniline dyes to get a two-tone look, with the redbud underlays left natural.  It might need one more application of the dye, will check tomorrow, but am hoping it is ready to apply the tru-oil.
