Here it is. For someone who has been on this site for longer than me and I've always respected. The bow string lines up dead center on the handle and is a shoot off the hand so don't assume it is a left handed bow just because of my full draw picture.
I wanted to make something that I have a lot of experience with and is somewhat unique to me. The stave was a perfect piece of Utah juniper. No knots at all and strait as can be. I've been saving it for a special occasion. It had a little deflex to start. After 2 2/3 layers of sinew it holds a little reflex. About 1 3/4". About 51" nock to nock. A center shot bow. 4" handle, top limb 25", Bottom 22". The bow is a Modoc style painted with yellow ocher I picked up in California. Put a chunk of it on a electric burner for a few seconds and it turns a brilliant red. The black is charcoal. I made a glue a few years back from pacific red snapper(chilli pepper rockfish) bladders. I spent a couple hours cutting them out of our bait bin on a steam home, back in the 12 years when I worked on a crab boat. The fish were from very cold water so my glue was a bit of a failure as it did not jell untill i put a fan on it for a few days. Because of all this it makes a great paint binder. It does not crack. The design is unique but based off a couple existing designs on old bows. Not a true reproduction. The tips are bighorn sheep horns. I used shellac over the sinew for water protection The belly is treated with grease, then a few coats of tung oil.
I love how this bow shoots and hope the new owner likes it too.
