Maybe if I draw Clint I'll have him send me a osage stave to make the bow out of.

I was accidentally sent an invite that was intended for PatB but I refuse to give up my spot. I am the John Scott of the trade.

So does this mean that we are finally going to see a PatM bow posted?
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I was lucky enough to claim my victim.
I have something up my sleeve I've been wanting to do for a couple years now. I think I finally have all the pieces of the puzzle.

I've already got a Pearlie bow and a Matt Wirwicki bow but I'd take a bow from anyone...even those two Yankees again.  ;D

Oh, this is going to be fun.  I'm honored and excited to be a part of this trade.  Have an idea or two swimming around.  Can't wait to find out who've I've drawn.  This will be a picture heavy thread, I presume.  Hope so!

So, I've been thinking about this a lot.  In my opinion there are two different trains of thought when we as bowyers begin to build a bow for a fellow bowyer.  I think we lean towards the idea of building a bow that we think fits our victims "personal style", or to build something for them in a style that they would build for themselves.
But, I think back to what Sadie Jane said to me several months back when I told her I would do a trade with her.  I kept asking her what kind of bow she wanted and what style would fit her.  She told me that she didn't want a Sadie bow, that she wanted an Aaron bow.  She wanted me to build her something that I would build for myself.  And the more I think about it, the more I agree that this is how I would want someone to build a bow for me, in their own personal style, not mine.
But, as the builder, I have a hard time with this.
What are others thoughts here? Do we build a bow that we think fits them, or us?
Maybe, I'm over thinking this.

I build "my" style for others. I never try to replicate what they make for themselves.

I'm no good at building someone else's style. Heck I still struggle with my own style at times, so it does me no good to copy Pearly's. At the end of the day I try to incorporate elements of the guys personality into my build, but if it don't look like a "stringman" bow something's wrong. I like the theory of challenging ones self in these trades, but just not sure I can pull that off.

How do we select who we build a bow for and who builds a bow for us? Do we have a drawing? Do we build a bow for the same person that builds a bow for us?

Pretty sure you can select who you want to build for, or wait for the hat drawing. You should not know who selected you until the box arrives at your door step.
