Leather sources
« on: December 29, 2015, 06:32:43 pm »
Please don't post direct links...  ;D
I'm looking for sources of good quality garment leather, probably from 2oz to 6oz weight. If anyone on here has personal access to the same I'd like to talk to you.  Please PM me with details.   I'm up for trades but I'm more interested in sources.

Pat, you should check out Clydes booth at the classic if you can wait that long.   I got some really nice buckskin from him.

Clint, I did check out Clyde's leather and it wasn't what I was looking for. I did buy a half hide from one of the other venders next to Clyde. He had 2 half hides and I wish I had bought the other one too or remember who it was.
Eddie, does Hobby Lobby have full and half hides or just scraps?
I got the PM and will answer them.  I'm getting back into doing some leather work so I need a reliable source. I checked out Crazy Crow and Moscow Hide and Fur(both PA sponsors) but would like other options.
Thanks guys. I'll check out the sites that were PMed to me.

Hey Pat, Tandy Leather in Charlotte NC and Zack Whites Leather in Ramseur NC. Both have tool and garment leather. I have been to Tandy but not Zack's place. I have heard Zack has a lot of leather for sale. They both have online websites I believe. You can also purchase leather tools from both.

Becks leather and craft. In west Jordan Utah. Hobby Lobby has scraps, and you never know what you are gonna get. Tandy has anything you want, and if you are going to buy in bulk it may not be a bad idea to buy their gold membership, otherwise it is really expensive.
If you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got.

Thanks guys. I'll check our all these websites.
I'd like to get samples so eBay probably not an option for me. Heck, I've never bought anything off of eBay.
