A guy I work with once in a while brings me some fresh Osage that he cuts on his farm. He thinks it's cool that I use it and he likes the idea that it can be made into something besides a fence post or a bow fire. He even asks me how I want them cut and he normally seals the ends for me to. Now he brings me whole logs and I have to split them out.
We'll he brought me 5 nice logs that ranged from 6.5 feet to just over 8 feet long and about 8 to 10 inches around.
Today is my birthday and work was really slow to I took off a couple of hours early and came home to get the logs split and in the dry. It's supposed to rain a bunch the next couple of days. I ended up with 18 staves and at least 3 or 4 could probably be split in half. I've never got gold for my birthday before!
